Who Am I?
Years of Experience With Children
My name is Karen Irvine. In 2002 I qualified as a nursery nurse and worked in a private nursery for over 4 years where I was also after school care manager.
I then moved on to become a nanny. I worked with 3 families over 9 years. The children in my care aged from 8 months to 8 years.
In January 2016 I gave birth to my son Daniel. My decision to become a childminder is based on being at home with him and having other children in our home for him to interact and play with. Daniel is at school during the day, but will be around before and after school most days, and will often enjoy playing with other children within my care.
My husband’s name is Kenny. He is a technician at a local autocentre. He works shifts so sometimes he will be in and around our home during the day. We have been married since 2010 and have lived in this home since February 2014.
Alfie is our well-behaved young collie-cross dog. He is good around children. He has his own space within our home but will mix with the children at supervised times.
I grew up in Lenzie and know the area well and I know what activities and facilities there are available for children. We will spend our days playing, baking, reading, singing and generally having fun. Out of the house, we will visit toddler groups, the library and have day trips.
